If you are applying for naturalisation as a British citizen or for indefinite leave to remain you will need to show that you know about life in the UK.

You take the test in a number of examination centres. The tests are run by UfI/Learndirect for the British Government Borders and Immigration Agency, based in the Home Office. You are allowed up to 45 minutes but most people complete it within half an hour

The British exam, as the Life in the UK test is often known, is the route to secure residence and UK citizenship. With practice tests, preparation for the British exam becomes much more simple. Once you have read the 'Life in the United Kingdom' book, and studied chapters 2-6 in depth, your test preparation is complete. Take a practice test , see if you pass the citizenship test, and if not study the answers you got wrong. The citizenship test will get easier and easier the more practice tests you take.
